As I grow older, I realize that I am becoming more and more like the typical older person. I hope that it is in wisdom from experience rather than senility from age. Only my friends and family know for sure. And please don’t ask them.
I remember when my dad walked five miles to school, in the snow, uphill, against the wind, both ways. Today, my children remember when I left home at 18 to go to college, worked three jobs to pay my own room and board as well as tuition, lived in an apartment with two other students to make ends meet, AND PAID FOR MY OWN INSURANCE!
What the hell is going on with our society today? President Trump (I know this is a week or so premature.) is under pressure to retain some of the ridiculous portions of Obamacare that make it the disaster it is. One portion includes the requirement that children be covered by their parent’s insurance up to age 26.
Twenty-six? Most of us were married and had children by that age. AND all of us had jobs. We paid our own way in the world and forgot about mommy and daddy long before we started to enter our third decade of life.
Birds don’t leave the nest until they are pushed out. For the sake of our nation, we need to start doing some pushing.
