The second amendment to the constitution of the United States guarantees our citizenry the right to keep and bear arms. What people don’t understand about that amendment remains a mystery to me. Its existance is as important as the first amendment that guarantees these same people the right to complain about it-namely, free speech.
With the most recent abuse of that freedom- the senseless murders in Colorado, we once again have those factions that want to abolish the second amendment in favor of more strict gun laws. Interestingly, these same people refuse to increase the penalty for abusing this freedom-namely, capital punishment for murderers.
Let’s once again walk through this simple scenerio and see how you think it would play out. Let’s say we pass gun laws that are more strict. Let’s even say that you are able to overturn the amendment itself and no one is allowed to own a weapon at all.
Who do you think will obey the new law? Those law abiding citizens that buy their weapons legitimately and use their freedom to carry a weapon responsively? Or will it be those thugs that already abuse the laws and are already causing harm and chaos?
You guessed it. Those that abuse the privilege of the right to keep and bear arms won’t give a rat’s ass about your new laws anymore than they cared about the older laws on the books. All that will happen is that you will handcuff the rights of the average citizen to protect himself.Â
Take a moment and think through the process.  What needs to be done instead, is the return of capital punishment for capital crimes. And I don’t care about whether it has been determined to be a deterrent or not. It gets rid of the person who devalues life.
Gen 9:4-6 And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each man, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of his fellow man. Â “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God
has God made man.
