I was recently visiting a nursing home patient. The entire hour was spent listening to her complain about the food she was being served. One such complaint was that she was served cottage cheese with cantaloupe rather than peaches or fruit cocktail.
Really? Is that all we can do here in the most prosperous nation in the world? I have vowed to really watch the complaint department in my own life.
I am reminded this Thanksgiving how thankful I am for my patients. Can you believe that some 3000 people actually trust me to care for them and their families? That is truly amazing, and I appreciate it alot.
Each day, my office is inundated with people who have some sort of medical need. Some are emergent, most are not. My office staff does their best to get these people seen in a timely manner and TODAY.
And yes, I sometimes take criticism for perhaps seeing too many people in comparison to colleagues, but I have always felt the need to see people when they hurt, not two days later. And over time that has paid off in many ways.
So as I enjoy remembering what the Lord has provided this year and how He has poured out His goodness, I am thankful for those who call me Doc and mean it.
