I made the mistake of going out in public again this weekend. IÂ was disturbed once again by the number of men who are willing to stand on the corner and beg money from others. Pathetic.
I have been working since I was six, so it seems to me that they could be doing something. Even a six-year old can do enough to survive without begging. Â
I do give a pass to someone who has no arms or legs or to those who have lost the use of those arms and legs through paralysis or amputation. But have you ever noticed that there aren’t any of those around?
It seems that there isn’t any sense of pride anymore. I had room mates in college that wanted to go get food stamps. When I refused, they tried to mock me by asking if I was “too proud”- as if there was something wrong with that. I said YES, I was too proud!Â
Don’t give your hard earned money to those willing to stand around and beg for yours. Almost all of them are alcoholics, drug addicts, or just lazy. For the addicted, you are not doing them a favor. And for the lazy, even God says, “If a man will not work, he shall not eat.” 2Thessalonians 3:10
