I just read that television host Rodner Figueroa just lost his job because he said that First Lady Michelle Obama looked like a cast member on Planet of the Apes.
That was dumb, but is anybody else here sick and tired of hearing the whining or is it just me? It seems that every day, another person is offended because somebody else has made a derogatory remark against someone of a different race, gender, or sexual orientation.(There may be other areas of hypersensitivity.)
Then all hell breaks loose and someone is fired or has to make a public apology which is always insincere anyway. “No really, I am not a bigot–just because everybody heard me say in what I thought was a private conversation that I hate black people.” You get the idea.
Okay, back to my rant. Let’s grow up already. There will always be racism, homophobia, sexism, etc… Get over it before you drive the rest of us non-bigoted, non-homophobic, non-sexist people who have to keep hearing you bitch about it absolutely nuts. Does that make me a bitchaphobe or would that be only a whineaphobe?
My mother always told me to just get over it and quit feeling sorry for myself. It now doesn’t bother me a bit when someone doesn’t like me because I am a white, heterosexual, Christian, male or calls me a WASP.
Or maybe that’s just because I’m better than everyone else?!
