Happy Fourth of July! The celebration of our nation’s independence from tyranny is an important day to remember. So let’s light those firecrackers, explode those fireworks, and give thanks to God for sending us the great founding fathers that pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to make it happen.
I will be the first to admit my disappointment in our nation as the size and power of our federal government and the tyranny it brings increases almost daily. I also admit the disappointment I have in its people that sit idly by as others expunge their freedoms, usually without even a fight.
I remember a line from Mel Gibson in The Patriot, “…why should I trade one tyrant three thousand miles away for three thousand tyrants one mile away?” Yes, man loves to rule over man and man apparently loves to be ruled. It makes no sense to me but history teaches us this.
But the freedoms we still enjoy are abundant. I especially appreciate the privilege of being able to take a stand as I do here without fearing too much retribution from those in power. I thank God for the freedom of speech that we still mostly enjoy.
Happy Furth of July. Let freedom ring!!!!!
