W. C. Fields was a comedian and he probably said it best. “Ah, yes. Anybody that hates kids and dogs can’t be all that bad.” I hate kids and dogs too. Well, only when they are together in the same house. And then it’s the dogs I hate rather than the kids. Actualllly, it’s the stupid parents I am beginning to hate the most.
I saw two kids in the office last week for dog bites. Then I went to church and met another. Then I read the newspaper where a pit-bull killed a pregnant mother and the child she was carrying.
Really? What is wrong with people who can’t seem to get it? Dogs and kids DON”T MIX! Countless times my wife and I would be at a baseball game for our son and encounter people that had actually brought their dog to the park. Really?
Invariably one of the kids got nipped by a dog “that never bit kids before.” One’s an animal that reacts on instincts. The other is a kid who is naturally attracted to the animal that appears so harmless until they get bit in the face. And I am left to sew the mess back together.
My recommendation? Absolutely no dogs in the neighborhood until all the kids are old enough to shoot a shotgun to protect themselves. If you need a pet, get a turtle.
