The Three Dog Night sang it best. I was reminded of this lyric, “Eli’s Coming,” when Eli Manning stepped onto the field with less than four minutes left in Super Bowl XLVI, trailing by two points and 90 yards between him and the endzone.
Could he march the NY Giants down the field one more time when everything was on the line? Could he do it one more time as he had done a half dozen or more times over the last two months of professional football?
And he did just that to make my day. I had wanted him to win since the beginning, as play off games led to the inevitable standoff between him and Tom Brady of the NE Patriots. It was two great quarterbacks leading their teams in a great game once again.
Congratulations to the World Champion NewYork Giants. And to think, some people would prefer to watch soccer?!
