I was just watching the latest automobile sales advertisement during breaks from the televised program. I don’t even remember if it was the latest Toyota sales gimmick, or Ford, or Chevy, or whomever. It amazes me how fun they try to make buying an automobile seem.
Of course, those of us who have tried to purchase a car know it is never that much fun. In fact, it is worse than going to the dentist. In my opinion, far worse.
Why is it that you can walk onto a car lot with money in your hand so to speak, and the automobile dealers make it such a long, drawn out, and miserable process that you (or at least I) never choose to go back?
I drive a ten year old Chevy pick-up for just that reason. I can afford to upgrade my automobile driving experience as often as I want and I would rather drive my 10 year old pick-up instead of going through the buying process again.
When I purchased my truck, I traded in (sic) my old van that had over 200,000 miles. The windows wouldn’t even go up or down anymore. The dealer said, “Hey, maybe I’ll see you again in a year or two?”
Ya think? More than likely, you’ll see me when I drag my pick-up off to the side of the road and put a torch to it to hide the identity papers. It sure looks fun on TV though.
