I am a Board-certified (not that that really matters), Family Medicine physician who practices in rural Washington state. I am the principal owner of Assurance Healthcare and Counseling Center. Here we practice medicine differently by combining physical healthcare and mental health counseling in the same facility for those who may need both. We use membership medicine and avoid health insurance, Medicare and Medicaid like the plague. Always appreciating what a little humor does to refresh the soul, I have written a collection of stories about events that have occurred over the years in my practice, and I hope that they will also make you laugh (see Just a Spoonful of Laughter Helps the Medicine Go Down).
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Bacteriology and Public Health from Washington State University before pursuing a career in laboratory medicine and clinical administration. After losing my mind, I entered medical school at the University of Washington, School of Medicine where I graduated first in my class–well that’s what my family said. I am married and have three grown children.
